ORT America

ORT America Archives

Between 1922 when it began to now, ORT America has amassed an impressive collection of materials documenting and illustrating ORT programs around the world - how they started, how they grew and the impact they've had on the communities around them.

We've also got quite an enormous "family photo album" with pictures of our membership in action. They are making speeches, holding fundraisers, going on missions, visiting schools and talking with the students they support. There are portraits, groups shots and, of course, an entertaining candid or two.

Every month or two, we will highlight "feature exhibitions" made up of items from the archives, as well as  and we hope that you will enjoy them, find out a bit more about our impressive history and join us to forge an even brighter future.

The archives are a work in progress -- there is a tremendous amount of material to review, but we hope you'll come back often to browse, see how it's going and see what's been added lately.

Our Feature Exhibition

World ORT's 130th anniversary is next year and OA is getting in the mood with a stroll down memory lane. Stops in '69, '79, '89 and '99 offer everything from Marc Chagall to Cuba, from Kosovo to Katz's Deli.

Latest Additions:

  • A Stroll Down Memory Lane: Decade by decade - 50 years of highlights from AO Yearbooks and the ORT Reporter - from Chagall to Cuba, Kosovo to Katz's Deli and the early days of 'e-dating'

  • Cover Collection:  A selection of covers from the American ORT Annual Yearbook, the ORT Reporter and the Women's America ORT Yearbooks.

  • New York, New York! ORT has a long relationship with and takes many forms in New York City. Bramson ORT is part of that multi-generational, multi-layered story.

  • ORT Iran: For over 25 years, ORT operated across Iran, running vocational, educational and medical programs for an impressive cross-section of Iranian society - adults and children alike. Those programs changed not only the lives of the students as individuals but their local communities and larger society as well.
